Driver Route Settings

In addition to the existing Driver Settings the driver profile configuration has been enhanced to allow the most accurate route calculations possible.

Driver Proficiency

Driver Proficiency is comprised of two components – Speed factor and Stop base duration.  The Driver Proficiency settings allow for more precise timings to be considered during the optimisation calculation.

Speed Factor

This relates to the travel time moving between jobs.

For example, a Driver who is experienced and familiar with a particular delivery area will be able to navigate more easily between jobs and therefore has a higher proficiency.

Default Driver Proficiency = 1

Driver Proficiency can be increased or decreased by a decimal with the full range being 0-2

Adding a decimal point to the rating increases the speed on site by 20%

i.e. 1.1 = 120% whereas 0.9 = 80%-time efficiency.

0.5 reduces the speed to 50% of the normal speed, effectively doubling the time the vehicle takes to cover the same distance.

Stop Based Duration

If used, this setting adds the specified minutes to each deliveries dwell time.

For example, you may have a mix of Truck and Van deliveries, and you are aware for the goods to be unloaded from the Truck is a more time consuming process than the van.  Using the Stop Based Duration, you can add an additional 5 minutes to each stop for Truck Drivers.

Driver Cost

Agreements in place with Drivers can vary and the following settings allow you to record the various cost arrangements and optimise routes with a focus on cost analysis.

Radaro provides three cost configurations:

  • Fixed Cost (daily rate)
  • Distance Cost (per km rate)
  • Time Cost (per hour)

Driver Limits

Regulations across Drivers can differ across industries.  Setting Driver Limits is a fatigue management component allowing you to ensure the routes planned are meeting your legal obligations.

Plan your routes based on the limits in place with Drivers

  • Maximum Distance
  • Maximum Shift Time (includes break times)
  • Minimum jobs
  • Maximum jobs

Carrier

When using external carriers, this feature enables you to monitor and compare performance and costs across different carrier providers and/or in-house team.

Transport Profiles

Choose the appropriate Profile for the Driver.

Details on how to create a Transport Profile can be viewed here.

Capacity

Use up to three Capacity fields to ensure accurate utilisation of vehicles.

The three fields can be configured to suit your requirements such as:

  1. Cubic
  2. Weight (kg)
  3. Units
  4. Pallet spaces
  5. Square metres
  6. Stillages/Crates
  7. Boxes

The route optimisation process will take into consideration all the used capacity information to optimise the jobs.

Territories

Where Drivers are restricted or have preferences to work in certain areas/zones, Territories can be created and assigned to all or specific working days to ensure jobs are assigned to the appropriate Driver.

Territories can be set as:

  • Exclusive
    • The driver is assigned one territory only and only jobs with this territory will be assigned to the Driver.
  • Preferred
    • The driver is assigned one territory only.  However, If there is available time or capacity, they can also be assigned jobs outside their preferred territory (including jobs with no territory assigned).
  • Prioritised
    • A Driver can be assigned multiple territories, each with a priority level (1 = highest priority, 5 = lowest).
    • The driver is restricted to these assigned territories and cannot be assigned jobs outside the specified territories.
    • Multiple territories can share the same priority level.
    • This configuration helps ensure broader job coverage allowing a Driver to primarily work in their preferred zone, however with the ability to have additional jobs where capacity allows.

NOTE -

Territories & Job Priority

  • If the Job Priority feature is enabled when creating a Route Optimisation, then satisfying the Job Priority conditions takes the highest precedence.
  • However, if the Territories feature is also enabled, the Route Optimisation will give precedence to the Territory assignment, and Job Priority becomes the second-highest consideration.

Territories & Concatenated Orders

  • The Territories feature is not compatible with the Concatenated Orders feature.
  • If you require Concatenated Orders, territories need to be created/assigned via the Skill Set feature.

Configuration Limits of Territories

  • Each portal can have a maximum of 100 Territories
  • Territory names can be no longer than 100 characters
  • Drivers can be assigned to a maximum of 25 Territories
  • Each job can only have 1 Territory assigned
